My 4 year old niece understands Doctor Who better than my sister...

  • ((After turning on the BBC America Doctor Who marathon))
  • 4 yo niece: What's that?
  • Me: Doctor Who
  • 4 yo niece: Who's that? (points to David Tennant)
  • Me: That's the Doctor
  • 4 yo niece: Doctor who?
  • Me: Exactly.
  • 4 yo niece: Is he a good guy?
  • Me: He's the best. He saves people.
  • Sister: Are you trying to explain Doctor Who to my 4 year old? I don't even understand it!
  • 4 yo niece: Mommy! He's the Doctor and he saves people.
  • Me: ... and that's pretty much all you need to know.

I desperately wish I was talented enough to make one of these…

”..to me, Van Gogh is the finest painter of them all. Certainly the most popular, great painter of all time. The most beloved, his command of colour most magnificent. He transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world, no one had ever done it before. Perhaps no one ever will again. To my mind, that strange, wild man who roamed the fields of Provence was not only the world’s greatest artist, but also one of the greatest men who ever lived.”

  • (My mother has seen a few eps of Doctor Who and enjoyed it, so sat down to watch Asylum of the Daleks with me tonight).
  • Mom: The Darleks are just terrifying trashcans that want to kill us all, right?
  • Me: Take out the r. Dalek. Dah-lek.
  • Mom: Dah-lek.
  • Me: Yep.
  • Mom: (in her southern drawl) Like Daaaahling.
  • Me: ....
  • Mom: The daaaahling daaaahleks are terrifying.

It seems to me there’s so much more to the world than the average eye is allowed to see. I believe, if you look hard, there are more wonders in this universe than you could ever have dreamt of.
